Entry to doctoral programmes

Applying for a doctoral programme requires that you complete and submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI) to The University of Auckland, including sufficient information to allow academic staff to evaluate your academic background and match your research interests with an appropriate supervisor.

Please follow The University of Auckland doctoral application process (below) to express your interest in a doctoral level research degree at the Liggins Institute.

Before you begin this process you will need to have completed a preliminary thesis proposal (also known as a statement of research intent). Please save this form to your computer, then email the completed form as an attachment to ligginsstudentenquiries@auckland.ac.nz.

You will also need the following information:

1. A letter of support from your proposed supervisor
2. If English is your second language, your TOEFFL and IELTS scores
3. If your previous degree was not completed at The University of Auckland, 2 letters of support from the awarding university or institution.

For information on finding a project and supervisor visit Postgraduate degrees and research projects.
