Liggins Institute

Funding

As a Large Scale Research Institute, the Liggins is required to be financially self sustaining. Our support comes from public, commercial and community sources.

Overview

Researchers in New Zealand face greater competition for public (government) research funding than almost anywhere else in the world. Although Liggins researchers have a two to three times higher than average success rate, we believe it is short sighted to depend on public funding alone.

In recent years we have sought out national and international partners in areas of mutual interest. These partnerships are based in universities, government funded research organisations and industry.

Several of our most innovative projects have received seed funding from philanthropy and community organisations.
